It illuminates the social relationships that arise through the exchange of \"things\" and the nature of \"shops\" and their surrounding commercial world, formed by autonomous and communal relationships.\u003cbr\u003eKeiko Arima, who has been involved in projects such as the Sapporo International Art Festival and Arts Maebashi and has long worked as a curator\/director in the art field, applies sociological and anthropological methods learned at Ritsumeikan University to observe and explore the Demachi area. In this extensive work, she uncovers the inherent art (craftsmanship) and resonant polyphony (multiple voices) within the constantly changing town and its shops. However, in recent years, in developed countries including Japan, young people are once again aspiring to establish small independent businesses and retail stores as serious professions.
