By the bedside, in a favorite chair or on the sofa, in the car, on the street—everyone reads every kind of book.

Makiko Minowa is an illustrator known for her work in magazines and advertising, who continues to create pieces inspired by portraits, landscapes, cinematic scenes, and cars. This collection features illustrations she has created in recent years, focusing on people reading and the time they spend doing so, as well as the fantasies and landscapes born from their reading. She interprets not only text-based books but also art books, photo books, baseball player guides, botanical encyclopedias, newspapers, and even records as "books," expressing her unique perspective as an illustrator.

The world unfolds with a broad interpretation of the act of "reading," the gaze following words, and a deep longing and passion for all of it. Landscapes and portraits, existing books in this world and imaginary books born from fantasy, appear freely and alternately.

At the end of this book, you'll also find a poem by Taiwanese artist Chihoi, inspired by "The Midnight Cat," a wonderful fictional book imagined by the illustrator.

This book comes with a message card bonus, featuring a piece depicting books stacked on a bed, inspired by the works of real authors such as Fitzgerald, Austen, and Richard Powers. This is a signed copy by the author.
