"nanD" (meaning "storage" or "vault") is a publication that has, by editing together texts and interviews gathered from the interests and connections of its three editors/designers—from "Nantonaku, Critic," "nu," and "DU"—captured the indie culture scene that only they could illuminate, each time it emerged.

The latest issue, No. 11, features essays and short pieces from 26 contributors. Following the passing of one of the editors, Eiji Kobayashi, in March 2024, it has become a commemorative issue where 35 friends and people connected to Kobayashi have continued his "Instagram Diary" series, which he regularly contributed to the magazine (a short daily entry paired with a photo). In the "Instagram Diary" section, writers, illustrators, and editors such as Yusei Takiguchi, Sho Miyake, Erika Kobayashi, Amane Yamamoto, Takashi Akutsu, Shintaro Unuma, Ryo Danjo, Miyata Fumihisa, and Chika Goto, have written about their daily lives as an homage to Kobayashi, who loved books and films, with some texts also reflecting on him. The essay section includes a six-page piece by Teruki Mishina (FALL), a close friend, who reminisces about K-san through his travels and books.
Wakagami from Yohakusha / NAGORO BOOKS also contributed a 700-character short essay, writing about this newly opened shop, its location, time, and his interest in memory, alongside an introduction to Ayako Sato, who held an exhibition at our shop in November 2024. Although I only exchanged emails with Mr. Kobayashi for work and followed him on social media, never actually meeting him, after sending my manuscript to editor Morita-san, I heard from Ms. Sato herself that she had once spoken to Mr. Kobayashi at an exhibition venue. This made me feel a strange sense of serendipity and connection with this issue.
