Rakugaki Hitsuji "Hitsuji's Kyoto Sento Guidebook 2025: Reheated Edition"

The 2025 "reheated" edition of the Kyoto Sento Guidebook by Chiaki Otake—a first-class architect and illustrator known as "Rakugaki Hitsuji" who tours bathhouses to draw their floor plans. Based on the 2025 edition, which selected eight Kyoto sento that have undergone closures, successions, or renovations in the decade since "Hitsuji's Kyoto Sento Guidebook" (Sogensha, 2016) and presented them in a before-and-after format, this revised edition adds further "reheated" updates, including the renovated "Daikoku-yu" and changes to operating hours and floor plans (as of September 2026).
A record of Kyoto's sento culture—which shifts with the times, seeing both closures and new movements—this volume serves as both a collection that will one day be a valuable historical archive and a current guide to Kyoto's sento scene.
