Notes No. 2: "Moving"

"The endless renewal of the layout of objects within a room, and the daily trial and error of the route from home to the station, gradually make unfamiliar rooms and places familiar. Isn't the series of procedures that accomplish this what we call moving?" (From "Introduction")

By adding illustrations, annotations, and photographs alongside interview records (taking notes), "Notes" goes beyond architecture and urban theory to rethink the relationship between people, space, and place in a broad sense, learning through concrete examples. Following the revised first issue, the eagerly awaited second issue focuses on "moving."

Through interviews with novelist Yu Miri Takiguchi, as well as cultural anthropologists, architects, photographers, art collectives, and visual ethnographers, the issue re-examines "moving" as a complex interplay between the private problems of individual lives and the context of the land and the passage of time.

Following the first issue, which featured "gardens," this issue connects familiar phenomena that everyone experiences and knows with various experimental expressions and approaches from people with different specializations. The way humanistic interest expands, looking at history and the past simultaneously through annotations, stimulates intellectual curiosity and provides hints for daily creative work and thought.

Including an ambitious book design, such as spiral binding, which is not possible with commercial publications, this series promises to be enjoyable to hold and exciting to follow in its future developments.
