ABE Daiki, ISHII Yuki, KUDO Jun, HAYASHI Daichi: "Trust and Books: Two Dialogues"

Jun Kudo, a Russian translator, invited psychiatrist Hiroki Abe and German intellectual history researcher Daichi Hayashi to hold a talk event at our store on August 23, 2025, titled "What Happens 'Midway' in Book Production - Inside the Minds of Writers and Translators." What do translators, writers, and editors think about "midway" through their work? How do ideas become books?
This book records the conversations that took place, reflecting on the act of translation, the format of books, and the culture of self-published works, as well as what it means to be involved with "books" in this era, together with the participants. Furthermore, it includes "Reading Distant Words," an event held on November 2 of the same year, hosted by Nikara bookstore in Sado City, Niigata Prefecture, where Kudo, Abe, and Yuki Ishii, who co-translated Andrey Platonov's "Chevengur" with Kudo, discussed translation, publishing, and literature.

This collection of practical experiences and conversations provides hints and encouragement to those who continue to aspire to and experiment with reading, writing, and publishing in an era where the situation surrounding publishing and literature is undergoing significant changes.
